Privacy Policy

Overview

I strongly believe that your data belongs to you. I’ve done my best to limit the amount of data that’s collected about you from this website. If you have a tracker blocker installed, you’ll see that I have no trackers installed. Seeing how many visitors my website is getting, where they’re from and how they found this website is nothing more than a curiosity that I can do without. Not having Google’s code snippet on this website to help SEO will no doubt impact my ranking, but I’m happy to take that hit. If you find something funky on this website (maybe I’m using a plugin that’s doing more than it should), let me know and I’ll look into improving things.

Who is CG Nerd?

CG Nerd is the name I trade under as a sole trader in the UK. I’m an animator, I have absolutely no need or interest in collecting information about visitors to this website.

Google ReCAPTCHA

This website uses Google ReCAPTCHA to protect my contact form from spam. Google’s privacy policy can be found here and their terms of use here (Google no longer provides a specific T&C and policy just for ReCAPTCHA, probably not a good sign). To say using Google code on this website makes me uneasy is a bit of an understatement, but unfortunately it’s the best solution available right now. As of writing, Google doesn’t use ReCaptcha data for advertising purposes, but no doubt this could change in the future.

There are solutions (e.g. traditional CAPTCHA services) from organisations that don’t harvest data, but these services aren’t inclusive for people with disabilities. I’ve done extensive research to try and find a better option (this is an interesting article on the Inaccessibility of CAPTCHA from W3C), but it seems as though there is no one good solution that’s inclusive and privacy conscious.

If you know of a better solution, please get in touch, I’d love to hear it.
