Hello! I’m Stephen Thomas, a freelance animator and animation director based in Cardiff.
I’m experienced in all areas of the animation process, from directing to hands-on animation work, and am here to help bring your next project to life.

A little bit about me
I’m a highly experienced freelance animator and director with a love of good storytelling, slick motion graphics and nuanced character animation. I’ve been working in the industry for over 15 years, with clients of all sizes. Alongside creating work for big players – including MTV UK, Virgin Trains, Welsh Government and S4C – I’ve also produced work for agencies, small businesses and one-off projects.
I’m a dab hand at using Blender, Nuke, Adobe After Effects, Moho and Davinci Resolve, and I’m always keen to learn something new. I’m a firm believer in the power of the story; even with the best animation skills in the world, you couldn’t make a masterpiece without a decent understanding of storytelling.

Doing something to make things a little better
It feels like every day there’s a new article in the news about climate breakdown. Fires, floods, heatwaves, fire-tornados and so much more. I don’t know about you, but I feel a bit powerless as an individual who wants to help make things better. What is an animator to do? It’s not much, but I donate to Ecologi; They plant trees to soak up all the carbon we’ve been pumping out.
By working with me on a project, not only are you getting a lovely animation, you’ll also be doing a little bit to help make the world a better place.
